RUSH: John in Cornwall, New York. Hello, sir.

CALLER: Maha Rushie. Giga dittos for you. I’m a longtime listener. An honor to speak with you.

RUSH: Thank you very much, sir. I appreciate that.

CALLER: I’m calling because I am fed up with hearing the term “paying your fair share.”

RUSH: Amen, bro.

CALLER: I’ve had my fair share stolen from me every day in taxes and hidden fees in the last 43 years I have been working.

RUSH: Amen! And the top 1% are paying 70% of all the tax revenue anyway. If the game’s rigged, that’s where it’s rigged.

CALLER: And when are the recipients of my fair share going to pay their fair share?

RUSH: You know, that is an excellent point. That is an excellent point. These people talk about (Obama impression), “You didn’t build that! You — you — you — you didn’t make that happen.” As far as I’m concerned, the people who aren’t paying taxes don’t get to run around claiming that they built everything, that they built the roads and that they built the bridges and so forth.

If it weren’t for the taxes of the 1%, the 2%, the 5% and the 10%, then the 89 million people who aren’t working wouldn’t be eating and making phone calls on their cell phones or watching their plasmas or whatever. Some of this stuff is just backwards, but that’s what I mean (again) by this being Democrat playbook boilerplate.

“The rich aren’t paying their fair share, the poor are getting the shaft,” stuff that we’ve heard for the last 50 years. And if you’re only 30 years old listening to the program or 25, I’m telling you: Everything Obama said last night, Jimmy Carter said in 1980. It’s almost verbatim. This has been standard operating procedure — word for word, practically — what the Democrats have said when they get in trouble for at least 50 years.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is Kathleen in White Lake, Michigan. You’re next on the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. It’s a pleasure to talk with you. You know, I’m very nervous right now. I’m a first-time caller, and I have a little cold. But I want to thank my mom and dad, first of all, for introducing me to you in my younger years. My question for you is: Obama talks about trying to lower the health care costs for Americans.

RUSH: Ha!

CALLER: My husband currently works for a medical supply company who, at this point in time, are in a panic because Obama signed into law — effective January — that his corporation will be charged 2.7% tax on all medical devices, their sales. It’s called the MDT tax.

RUSH: It’s just one of many new taxes that will hit on January 1st if something isn’t done. The Bush tax rates will expire, and they’ll go back up to what they were during the wonderful and great Clinton years. But you’re right. There’s a whole slew of taxes just waiting to kick in, and the tax on medical devices is one. By the way, the things that will then be categorized as “medical devices” even include Band-Aids. There are some ridiculous examples. No, you’re absolutely right. It’s just the tip of the iceberg.
