RUSH: This is Sally in Richmond, Virginia. It’s great that you called. I’m glad you waited. Hi.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. How are you?

RUSH: Fine. Thank you.

CALLER: Good. I was listening to the news this morning. It’s April 15th, tax day, and they were talking about how the IRS is running out of money or doesn’t have enough money to answer over 60% of phone calls.

RUSH: Yeah, you know why? I was watching news today, too, ’cause I couldn’t help it. I just saw a story, Sally, that they’ve discovered they’ve spent like millions and millions of dollars on furniture for the offices at various IRS locations and so forth. Just a bunch of extraneous, worthless stuff. I mean, yeah, the idea that any government agency doesn’t have enough money in this country is absurd.

CALLER: Well, I agree. I was just wondering, made me think, you know, are the taxpayers gonna be off the hook and able to ignore any IRS correspondence if they don’t get their taxes right this year?

RUSH: Doesn’t work that way. You know it. You know that. You’re asking a rhetorical question.

CALLER: I know. But it’s just so infuriating, and if you try to follow and get it right and then to hear them say —

RUSH: It’s not possible.

CALLER: I know.

RUSH: It isn’t possible. Hell, what did I just see, Obama just added 3,000 pages arbitrarily to the tax code with some of his new executive orders on taxes and so forth. It’s impossible, I think, for an ordinary, average American to get his tax return right.

CALLER: It seems like they have the IRS doing all these things that are not really their main purpose, and, you know, following up on people that don’t pay for Obamacare. It just seems like he they are sending the IRS on all these other things that aren’t their main job description.

RUSH: It’s all collection.

CALLER: Yep.

RUSH: And that’s their job. It’s all collection. And if you owe money because you don’t have an insurance policy as mandated by Obamacare, it’s their job to get the money from you. And they’re gonna take it out of your refund if they have to. They have the power of law behind them on that.
