RUSH: Okay, folks, I have figured out this e-mail scam. I know exactly what’s going on here. I know exactly what the strategy is ’cause it’s working on me. Ah, this is so predictable. We’ve seen it before.

Greetings, and welcome back. Great to have you. Rush Limbaugh here behind the Golden EIB Microphone. Telephone number is 800-282-2882. And e-mail address, ElRushbo@eibnet.com.

Here’s what’s happening here, folks. I’m going through the latest news accounts of the latest dump of Hillary e-mails, and about halfway through the story, I say, “You know what, I don’t care anymore. I’m getting bored. Nothing’s happening here. They’re just releasing a bunch of stuff. It is meaningless.” You know, all of these e-mails that we’re reading about today, Boehner’s an alcoholic, all this crap, doesn’t have a thing to do with anything. These are part of the e-mails that she did not delete. These are the things that she submitted that she wants everybody to see.

And this drip, drip, drip. I’m sorry, folks, I was wrong. This drip, drip, drip is not Obama trying to destroy Hillary. The drip, drip, drip is trying to bore the American people. They get tired of hearing about it because nothing happens. It’s not interesting other than this inside-the-Beltway gossip stuff. There’s some tantalizing things in there, some titillating things that are supposed to make everybody go, “Ooh, ooh, ooh,” like David Brock trying to talk her into impeaching Clarence Thomas. Or Sidney Blumenthal asking her to promote his idiot son’s ranting against Israel. Or the fact that Tim Geithner’s lousy with document curation, which we already know, but none of it is about anything that matters, and accordingly, nothing happens here.

The drip, drip, drip is designed to bore people and to make them think there’s nothing to it. Compare it A-B, side by side, Hillary e-mail, original news stories, particularly in conservative media. “Wow. She’s dealing in classified information. She’s dealing with super-secret stuff. Oh, my God, we could all be at risk. Did she know? Did she not know? Is she competent?” Then the drip, drip, drip happens, and what do we get? Boehner is an alcoholic. Blumenthal thinks his kid’s a great, smart guy when he rants against Israel. David Brock trying to convince Hillary to impeach Clarence Thomas. Nothing about anything classified. But more importantly, nothing happens.

The drip, drip, drip continues, but nobody makes a move on Hillary. Nobody, and, more importantly, nobody in the Republican Party is making a move. Nobody’s trying to force any action. Nobody’s trying to cause anything to happen as a result of this drip, drip, drip of the e-mails. And so, the target of all this, our favorite group, the low-information voters, they keep hearing about this, but nothing ever happens, so there must be nothing to it. And after a while, the low-information people are gonna be just like me, “Latest Hillary e-mail dump, okay, big whoop. What’s this say? Okay, fine.” And then they get tired of it.

I’ll give you exact historical demonstration of this. This is, ladies and gentlemen, exactly how the Clintons beat Ken Starr. The drip, drip, drip just enervated everybody because it was not accompanied by calls for action, so it just became ho-hum news. In fact, they even set us up one day. It was the day that Clinton had to go testify under oath in a super-secret room at the White House. When his testimony was over they leaked a story that he had blown his gasket over a question about the cigars and the dress or something.

So everybody got, “Oh, man, okay, cool, Clinton blew a gasket. We must be getting somewhere now.” And then a couple days later they release the videotape of the testimony and get to that moment in time where he blew his stack, and he didn’t. He rolled his eyes and that was it. We were clearly being set up. And by the time the Starr report came out nobody cared anymore, they were bored silly because all that happened was drip, drip, drip, little new here, little new there, nothing monumental, nothing earth-shattering, but more importantly, nobody did anything.

By that, I mean, when Republicans are in the crosshairs like this, when there is a Republican public figure and there is an accompanying drip, drip, drip of information, you can use Alberto Gonzales, trying to destroy him, attorney general, but any other number of Republican figures while the drip, drip, drip is Republican, the Democrat Party is out the demanding that the focus of the drip, drip, drip be dispatched. They are demanding that the focus of the drip, drip, drip being fired, excommunicated, destroyed, sent packing, leave Washington, sent to jail, whatever.

They are demanding that there be remedial action as punishment for whatever the drip, drip, drip is alleging. And then icing on the cake, the Republican Party trying to show she can be bipartisan joins the calls for actions against the Republican who is the subject of the drip, drip, drip. And the Republican who’s the subject of the drip, drip, drip is sent packing. He’s gone, he’s run out of town, maybe put in jail. Can you say Scooter Libby?

I can give you any number of other examples. That Valerie Plame thing, another great example of the drip, drip. Every day they tried to get to the bottom of the leak, even though everybody knew who it was. You had the prosecutor, Fitzgerald, you know, everybody saying, “He wants Rove. He really wants Rove. Oh, my God, Rove’s been called in to testify,” drip, drip, drip. And they finally got somebody. They got Scooter Libby.

Now, the Alberto Gonzales case. The Democrats demand action when there’s a drip, drip, drip over some impropriety, some appearance of impropriety. So whatever it is that’s alleged about the Republican in the crosshairs that makes him unfit, there’s a drip, drip, drip of information. And at some point, you can count on the Republicans joining the drip, drip, drip like Specter did. Arlen Specter joined the drip, drip, drip against Gonzalez that he shouldn’t be attorney general.

And McCain did when Donald Rumsfeld was the subject of the drip, drip, drip. McCain was right in there after the pictures of Abu Ghraib. There’s McCain joining the Democrats saying, “Rumsfeld has to go.” So the drip, drip, drip has a purpose. The drip, drip, drip works because there’s a call for action by the people doing the drip, drip, dripping — in this case, the Democrats. Okay, here’s drip, drip, drip. I don’t know about you, are you not fed up with this story?

I mean, you might have some (I don’t know) surface interest in all these allegations that Boehner’s an alcoholic, but we know that the Republicans don’t like him. Nothing new in that. There’s nothing they… Blumenthal tells somebody in an e-mail that Boehner has no principles. He’s not devoted to any particular issues. He’s an alcoholic, he’s self-centered, and has very little respect by the conservatives. Is that news to us? Okay, so Blumenthal tells Hillary in an e-mail.

Hillary response to it, by the way, was, “Oh, my God, I’m so sorry to hear this,” dripping with sarcasm. So these e-mails that we’re learning about are the e-mails that she turned over. She wants these seen. She wants these e-mails published. She wants them talked about ’cause they’re meaningless, and they’re about as far away as you can get from classified data as you could get. They’re as far away from what everybody thinks the target of all this is as you could possibly get.

So I think the drip, drip, drip is designed not to eventually build a case against Hillary by Obama. I think it is designed to bore your average low-information voter and a lot of other people, too. Because as the drip, drip, drip happens, and nobody stands up and says, “This woman’s got to go! This is outrageous. This woman was trafficking in classified data with a server that was in the bathroom toilet in Denver…”

Nobody on the Republican side, nobody is standing up and saying, “This woman has to go.” Nobody is standing up and saying, “She’s not qualified. She needs to be run out of the Democrat Party primary. She is not qualified.” Nobody is standing up and saying that. The Republican Party wouldn’t dare. They’re afraid of offending women, Hispanics, Martians whoever. So they’re not gonna say anything.

And as far as the American people are concerned with the drip, drip, drip, if there’s no call for action, it must mean there’s nothing serious here. If nobody’s demanding that any action be taken because of what we’re learning with the drip, drip, drip, then big whoop. Nothing to see here. The Democrats always circle the wagons. When they’re responsible for the drip, drip, drip, they make sure to take out the target.

They don’t wait for public opinion to coalesce; they don’t give it time. They force public opinion. The drip, drip, drip starts and the Democrats are on TV, “This person is a reprobate! This person is absolutely unqualified! This person is a criminal! This person needs to be sent out of town. This person needs to be sent to a foreign country, put in jail,” whatever it is. It’s an every day drumbeat of how rotten the subject of the drip, drip, drip is. Meanwhile, the GOP not only doesn’t circle the wagons, they don’t call for any action.

The press treats… If there is an isolated attempt by some Republican to do something, the press treats it as extremist loon stuff, unserious and so forth, and that’s how the game is played. Now, I don’t know whether these e-mails interest you or not. Hillary’s being told by Sid Vicious, Sid Blumenthal, that Boehner drinks too much and is a lousy leader and his people don’t like him. But, folks, other than the boozing — I don’t know about that — the rest of the stuff in that e-mail, that’s not news to anybody, and neither is this other.

David Brock is insane? That’s not news to anybody. David Brock hates Clarence Thomas and loves Anita Hill? That’s not news to anybody. That the Democrats would like to get rid of Clarence Thomas? That’s not news to anybody! HBO’s got a movie coming out on the Thomas hearings with Anita Hill made to look like a big heroine star again. So I think I’ve finally figured this out, and I figured it out because the strategy isn’t working on me. About halfway through one of these stories today, the light went off. I said, “Okay. This is meaningless pap.”

And then it hit me, which I’ve just explained to you.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let me add some detail to explain what I hurriedly ran through here moments ago. Alberto Gonzales, the attorney general — Hispanic — should have satisfied the Democrats. They should have loved to have the Hispanic attorney general. Hispanic, for cry! The Republicans are making a move for the Hispanic vote, so we got a Hispanic AG, Alberto Gonzales. A great, great guy. They ran him out of Washington. Do you know why? Do you remember why?

Well, you will when I tell you. He fired eight US attorneys. Remember that? That whole bogus charge… Bill Clinton, when he assumed office in 1993, fired every US attorney. Every incoming regime does this. Bush did not. In 2001 when Bush assumed office, Bush left all kinds of Clinton people in office to extend an olive branch, to show that we can cooperate, to show that we can be bipartisan.

You know we had a big rift after Florida the recount, a big partisan divide. Bush was hell-bent on showing everybody, “Hey, we can govern! I’m not partisan! I’ll be happy to have Clinton holdovers left in my regime.” Fine. They kept sabotaging, trying to undermine Bush, Abu Ghraib, the Iraq war. But he left ’em there. But at one point, Alberto Gonzales got rid of eight US attorneys. Not all of them, like Bill Clinton did, and like every president does. He got rid of eight of them.

And you would have thought that it was the biggest scandal in the Justice Department in the history of the country. The Democrats would not let it go. The Republicans were in Robert Bork mode. They didn’t know what hit ’em, and they began an appeasement project. Gonzales was on TV trying to explain himself, and they didn’t understand what at all was going on. Alberto Gonzales was run out of town for doing… Janet Reno!

When she became attorney general, she got rid of practically every George H. W. Bush US attorney that was in office. And that’s standard operating procedure. You want your own appointees in those key positions. You share a moral authority, an ideological bond. You get rid of the deadweight. You just won the election. You get rid of the losers! Gonzales didn’t even get rid of all of them. Only eight! Drip, drip, drip, drip, drip. Republicans didn’t know what happened.

large
Democrats demanding Gonzales go and Bush, finally — in order to get rid of the controversy — sent him packing. Gonzales resigned for the good of the team or what have you. The Hillary Clinton drip, drip, drip. Is there anybody demanding anything be done to her? I mean, where the hell is the indictment, for crying out loud! With all that we already know, where is it? Where’s the Department of Justice? What’s the FBI doing? Where is the indictment?

Nobody’s demanding one. Nobody’s calling for one. There’s no political or legal pressure on her whatsoever, other than from some legal scholars in conservative media. Aside from that, you don’t hear it. How about this? Valerie Plame. I mean, Valerie Plame, this is… This is actually classic, folks. Valerie Plame is gonna attend a Hillary Clinton fundraiser in California. Valerie Plame’s the woman made famous by the phony media outrage over a non-spy being non-outed in a non-leak.

She was not a spy, and the leaker was one of Colin Powell’s guys. The drip, drip, drip, the drip, drip, drip, the drip, drip, drip. All these grand jury witnesses were being frog-marched to testify over and over again in front of Patrick Fitzgerald, and finally Scooter Libby — who happened to work for Cheney, Scooter Libby — is convicted of something that he didn’t even do. Richard Armitage was the leak! But she was a non-agent. The whole thing was bogus.

But while the drip, drip, drip is going on, the Democrats and the media are demanding that whoever did this, whoever “ruined this poor woman’s life,” Valerie and her courageous husband Joe Wilson. “Whoever ruined their lives had better be punished for it.” Now, the Bill Clinton testimony that grand jury testimonies, remember they leaked? I just mentioned this. They leaked after it was over that Clinton had blown a gasket when he was asked a question about, I don’t know, cigars and vaginas and blue dresses or some such.

I forget what it was, but it was about that, and when we were told that Clinton blew his stack and had a meltdown. “Whoa! Finally we’re getting someplace,” we all said. “Yes siree. Now we got ‘im.” So the day comes some days later, the videotape of Clinton’s testimony is played, everybody’s glued to it, and it happens a couple hours in. Nobody’s sure, so they’re glued, and they’re watching and they’re watching, but they’re not listening. They’re looking for the Clinton meltdown.

And they missed Clinton committing perjury while waiting for Clinton to blow up over the question about cigars, vaginas, and blue dresses, or whatever it was. So right before everybody’s eyes, Bill Clinton’s committing perjury, lying through his teeth in testimony before a grand jury. And nobody notices it, because they’re waiting for the thing they’ve all heard happened. We were all set up. All that happened was that Clinton rolled his eyes over a question.

Eight US attorneys. Gonzales fired eight US attorneys, not 19. Bill Clinton fired 93 of them. They ran Alberto Gonzales out of the attorney general’s office for firing eight US attorneys. They accused Bush of being political trying to cover up some crime, Iraq war, whatever it was. Bill Clinton fired 93 US attorneys. Every new coming president does. Libby was prosecuted for lying to the FBI, and he gets sentenced to jail. Hillary hasn’t lied to the FBI? Doesn’t matter. Nobody’s calling for action.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yeah, that’s right. I mean, the Democrats, they were also upset at Gonzales because of the memo from the attorney general’s office about enhanced interrogation techniques. The Democrats said that Gonzales had “authorized torture.” But it was the firing of those US attorneys that got the whole thing started. That’s not the point. It doesn’t matter what it is.

The point is, when the drip, drip, drip — the daily drip — of damaging, questionable, curious, harmful information about a Republican is going on, there are at the same time calls from Democrat after Democrat after Democrat for that Republican to either stand up and explain himself or face charges, or just leave. Just get out of town, or maybe be convicted and go to jail. There’s none of that in this Hillary e-mail business. All there is is speculation, innuendo.

Some details that are no better than gossip about other personalities inside the Beltway. Nothing about the meat of this. We’re hearing all of these e-mails that contain all of this classified information, all of this super-secret data that she’s compromised. Well, where the hell is it? Not only where the hell is it, where is a single Republican standing up and shouting, “Where’s the indictment?” Where is anybody on the Republican Party standing up and demanding something be done about it?

And they won’t, because that’s not how they’re gonna win the presidency. Can’t criticize Democrats! It’d be the War on Women in Mrs. Clinton’s case. Can’t criticize Obama, can’t criticize Black Lives Matter, can’t criticize them, even though they’re murdering people. Can’t do anything. “You gotta sit there and shut up, otherwise the independents and whoever will think you’re mean!” It’s absurd here.

We’ve got some polling data here. This is from Investor’s Business Daily: “Two-thirds of those following the Hillary Clinton email story say that she likely compromised national security by using an unsecured private email address while secretary of state… Just 30% call it unlikely that her private email use was a problem.” Those 30% also think Elvis is still alive, but they’re probably right, too. But so what? It’s like this. Politico has a story today. Here’s the headline…

“Poll: 71% of Americans Unhappy with Country’s Direction.” You think that’s new? There was a story back in January this year, a Pew poll, same thing: 70% of the American people are unhappy with the country’s direction. Well, guess what? The country is still headed in a direction everybody’s unhappy about ’cause nobody’s doing anything about it, and these people inside the Beltway still can’t figure out why Trump is resonating with people?

At this point, it doesn’t matter whether Trump’s a conservative, a liberal, a communist, or whatever. That’s not why people are glomming on to him. It’s because somebody is trying to stand up against all of this that’s destroying this country or trying to and attempting to make it look like he wants it to stop. People have voted in landslide numbers in 2010 and 2014. They’ve told pollsters they’re not happy with the direction of the country. They’ve done everything they know how to do.

The country is still headed in the wrong direction. No end in sight.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Jack in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Glad you called, sir. Welcome to the program. You’re up next.

CALLER: Ah, Rush, honor to talk to you today. I appreciate you taking my call.

RUSH: You bet, Jack. Any time.

CALLER: Hey, Rush, I was listening to you talk about the Republican leadership not standing up and demanding, demanding that she be held accountable. And too often, yeah, leadership, they’re dishrags. I mean, they’re afraid of their own shadow. But they have the media. The Democrats have the media that carry their water.

RUSH: Yeah?

CALLER: And you talk about drip, drip, drip.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: You know, everybody sits at home, they watch ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and they’re constantly reminded that there’s nothing here, there’s nothing going on here, they’re just picking on her, there’s nothing there.

RUSH: A-hum. Exactly my point here today, Jack.

CALLER: Well, Rush, here’s the thing that makes me so damn angry is that American people are so lazy, and the Republican leadership, same thing. I heard a gentleman say, “Well, it makes her weaker. It will make our people look stronger.” BS. Take her to task. And if they don’t, people feel sorry for her. We’re picking on her, time and time again. I’m sick of the media, Rush. And I know that —

RUSH: Wait, wait. Now, the American people not lazy. Some of them are, low-information crowd. For the most part the American people, and this Trump phenomenon, the two elections, 2010, 2014, the polls on the country going the wrong direction, 71%, the American people are right in there. They just don’t have any leadership. There’s nobody putting to action the things they support, vote for, want, what have you, and the things they’ve been promised, they’re not happening. So I think in this case I know what you’re saying. “Well, how can the Republican leadership stand up in the media?” You have to force the media. Is Trump forcing the media? Is Trump getting the media to cover him the way he wants? Come on, folks, it can be done. It’s being demonstrated right in front of everybody’s eyes and they still refuse to stand up and learn how to do it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, as promised, here is the parody that we did back during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal as the Democrat Party decided the best way to defend Clinton was to go out and destroy the investigator. And they did. They made mincemeat out of Ken Starr every day, and this is how we did it in satire. (playing of parody) Circa 1998, 1999. Drip, drip, drip.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Okay, some people have said, “You know, Rush, you’re really doing us a disservice. You’re glossing over these Hillary e-mails like they don’t mean anything ’cause you think you’ve figured out a brilliant strategy. What’s in ’em? What’s in?” Okay, okay, I understand that. I know everybody wants the titillation. I’m not gonna retract anything I’ve said about it, but here are the headlines of the stories detailing what’s the latest in the document dump of Hillary’s e-mails.

Hillary received a plan to impeach Clarence Thomas. It was an idea put forth by David Brock of MediaMattersforAmerica.com. He sent her a memo entitled, “A memo on impeaching Clarence Thomas.” And it contains information from David Brock about his book The Real Anita Hill and other things about Justice Thomas’ personal life. The document that Brock sent her details some things that Brock himself has learned, potentially intimidating women. Brock admits in this e-mail that he went out and bullied women to get them to change what they had told him for his book.

He had a bunch of women that used to work for Clarence Thomas and they told him things that exonerated Thomas. He went back to them and in his note to Hillary he admits to using journalistic sleight of hand to try to bully these women into changing their stories so that he could lead an impeachment of Clarence Thomas. No real word on Hillary’s reaction to it.

Another e-mail from Sidney Blumenthal. John Boehner’s alcoholic, lazy, and banal. He is louch, which is sort of like gauche, he’s louch, he’s alcoholic, he’s lazy, he’s without any commitment to any principle. Louch means dubious, shady, disreputable, it’s l-o-u-c-h if you’re wonder wondering. This letter from Hillary to Blumenthal said he’s not Gingrich, the natural leader of a revolution riding the crest into power. He is care-worn and threadbare, banal and hollow, holding nobody’s enduring loyalty.

He said that Boehner twitches if the conservative base makes gestures that might undermine his position. Boehner’s neither feared nor loved. He is a would-be DeLay without the whip. He’s the one at the end of the leash. And Clinton wrote back after all this, “Needless to say, I’m so distressed over all this.” She was being facetious and sarcastic. Sid Blumenthal also trashed David Axelrod, who is Obama’s right-hand man. Now, Blumenthal, Hillary wanted him at her desk at the State Department. Obama told her: No, you cannot hire the guy. I don’t like this guy. This guy’s a sleazebag, and I don’t want him anywhere officially in my administration.

Hillary said, okay, and she hired him anyway, and he was being paid by her foundation and a couple of other entities. That’s pretty much what was in the document dump today, 125 e-mails containing classified information. But again, it’s just a steady drip, drip, drip drip, drip, drip with no call for action to do anything about it. So the purpose or the end result is that all of this is just gonna end up boring people. There’s nothing here. If it’s that bad why isn’t something happening to her. If it’s that bad, low-information voters, “Gosh, if what she did is that bad, why aren’t there any charges? Why aren’t people standing up and saying she’s gotta go? Why aren’t there any indictments?” They would be legitimate questions.
