RUSH: Obama just said — he’s at a campaign rally. I don’t know where. He’s doing a swing state blitz. And he just said — now, keep in mind, now, Barack Obama is wrapping up his fourth year in office. And he said, (Obama impression) “We tried it their way. We tried it their way. And their way doesn’t work. They created fewer jobs than us.”

The president of the United States, this is as blatant a lie and a misstatement of fact as you can make. What he told these dingbat supporters of his is that he has created more jobs in these four years than occurred during the eight years of Bush. “We tried it their way.” That means Bush. “We tried it their way, and they created fewer jobs than us.” That’s not even grammatically correct. I didn’t have the sound up. I don’t know the reaction he got, but that’s just a blatant, blatant lie.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s that sound bite of Obama. This is what I saw during the commercial break. I was reading the closed-captioning. He didn’t say, as I thought, that they created fewer jobs than us. He said the deficit went up. See, the captioning had it wrong, and that’s all I had to go on. Here’s what he said. This is just delusional. This is our president, folks, entirely totally completely delusional. He’s not there. The elevator is not going to the top floor today. Listen.

OBAMA: We tried our ideas. They worked. The economy grew. We created jobs. Deficits went down. We tried their ideas. They didn’t work. The economy didn’t grow, not as many jobs, and the deficit went up. But here’s the thing. Governor Romney’s a very talented salesman, and in this campaign he’s tried as hard as he can to repackage the same old bad ideas and make ’em out to be new ideas and try to convince you that he’s all about change. Listen, we know what change looks like, Madison.

CROWD: (cheers and applause)

RUSH: See, this is another thing. When you listen to Romney speak at one of his rallies, it’s wholesome, it’s uplifting. He recites what Obama’s saying but he does so in a respectful way. He’s not nitpicking and he’s not snarky. Romney is looking and acting already presidential. Obama is just small and just snarky and tiny, even. But, folks, this is literally delusional. This is worthy of men in the white coats. “We tried our ideas. They worked. The economy grew. We created jobs. Deficits went down.” That’s delusional. The economy has not grown. We are losing jobs left and right. The labor force participation — you know all of this.

Deficits went down? You know, not even his supporters believe this. His supporters know the truth. It’s just that they think Obama’s about fairness. Obama’s about taking away from everybody and giving to them, but they know that the deficit’s going up, they know the national debt’s going up. They just don’t care. But Obama is coming out, I don’t know how else to describe this. Which Obama idea has worked? Stimulus? Obamacare? Green energy? Arab Spring? Name one. What Obama idea has worked? What deficit, any deficit, has come down?

The national debt has had almost $6 trillion added to it. That’s done by way of a deficit every year that is over a trillion dollars. We never had trillion-dollar annual deficits until Obama. One of Bush’s last deficits was a mere $257 billion. This deeply concerns me. I know politicians lie, and I know they want to put a good spin on everything. But this, folks, I’m tongue-tied. This is not just political lying. This isn’t trying to pull wool over people’s face. Nobody in this country thinks right now the economy’s working. That’s not why Obama’s supporters support him. It’s not because his ideas are working. They support him, A, because he’s a Democrat. B, because he’s a liberal. C, because they hate conservatives. D, because they hate Republicans. E, because they think everybody else owes them the something. But they don’t, they don’t support Obama because they think his stuff is working.

I mean, that’s a hell of a thing to try on your own people. Am I making too big a deal out of this? Cash for clunkers? Did that work? Cash for caulkers? Did that work? Shovel-ready jobs? Did that work? Jobs council? Did that work? Deficit reduction committee, commission, did that work? We don’t know; he didn’t try it. There isn’t a single Obama idea that has worked.

(interruption)

What? Oh, that’s right. He killed bin Laden and saved General Motors. Right. Right, right, right. Right. Anyway, there is something really, really wrong here, folks. This is the final day of campaigning. This is your big swing state blitz. This is where you go out and make the best case for yourself that you can. After four years of Obama’s presidency he is campaigning as though it never happened. I wonder if he knows what he’s saying. It’s on the prompter. I wonder if he really knows what he’s saying. I wonder if he believes what he’s saying.

He went down to the Univision show, and I tell you, that did not go well, as we chronicled at the time. The immigration idea, did that work? Fast and Furious, did that work? Did his national security plan in Benghazi work? He’s being heckled out there. They’re dragging his hecklers off in handcuffs. There are hecklers at Obama’s campaign appearances. Play the first half of this again. Grab 34 again. I want you to hear this. When he starts talking about Governor Romney, you can go out of it and hit the brake, but I just want to hear this one more time.

OBAMA: We tried our ideas. They worked. The economy grew. We created jobs. Deficits went down. We tried their ideas. They didn’t work. The economy didn’t grow, not as many jobs, and the deficit went up.
