RUSH: I have to express some frustration, folks. I have to express a little frustration. I was flying back last night from Austin, Texas. I went out there, it’s the National Association of Broadcasters annual convention, and we threw a big party for our radio station affiliates because of our 20th anniversary. I had H.R. was with me and he’s working on his computer doing stuff, we’re shooting the garbage. I had Hannity & Colmes on, and I’m doing some work on my own computer and I’m reading the closed-captioning, and it was an interview that Hannity did with Sarah Palin.

Now, I know that as the vice presidential nominee, she has to echo McCain. I don’t want to raise too big a red flag here because at the same time that this happened, they did a boffo town meeting together, and it was just kick butt. It was perfect kick butt. I’m not an alarmist, like some of you people are, some of you in there on the other side of the glass are and like some of you who e-mail me every day are. I’m not an alarmist, but I did notice something. This is not the time for Senator McCain to tell Governor Palin to start bashing Wall Street on this. It’s time to bash the Democrats. Sarah Palin is known for a number of things. She reformed a state. She went against corrupt state officials and beat them. She did not run against corporate thieves or whatever. She did not reform businesses in Alaska. Do not destroy what she has created. If Senator McCain wants to run around and do the populist thing and bash Wall Street and greed, don’t, please, I beg you in the McCain campaign — I know I don’t have any sway with you and I know you people don’t care for me, but please, it’s crucial here that you let Sarah be Sarah. Don’t make her run around and start pandering and sound like the Democrats. Don’t get into a competition with the Democrats on who can beat up Wall Street.

We know where the problem is here, and this all started with Democrats. You’re running against Democrats. For all intents and purposes in a lot of people’s minds McCain was finished, and then he did a brilliant thing, turned into John McBrilliant. He chose Sarah Palin, out of nowhere. Saved him, saved the party, and possibly secured the White House. He sees the crowds; he sees the excitement; he’s got to know why. Don’t shape Sarah Palin into McCain. I know she has to parrot some things here for staying on message and so forth. This is such a political gold mine, like energy was. You can hang this high around the Democrats’ necks. Harry Reid out of town, he doesn’t know what to do about it, doesn’t want to be there. Pelosi, out of town, doesn’t want to be there, doesn’t want to have anything to do with it, doesn’t know what to do about it, because anybody that seriously investigates this is going to find Democrats at the front of the line. People have said to me, ‘Rush, the Democrats are in a class all their own.’ I said, ‘I don’t know about that, but when it comes to this financial scandal, it sure wouldn’t take long to call the roll, because most of them are Democrats and you could just wrap it up.’ It’s her image with his experience and background that is the winner. It’s just one instance. You know I’m not an alarmist. Just one instance, but turn her loose on the liberals in government, turn her loose on them, if he doesn’t want to do it, it’s a sitting duck. We’re on the verge of a possible landslide here.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Hey, folks, I don’t want to be too presumptuous here, but I think in certain sectors of our society, certain people may be listening to us. This afternoon in City Rapids, Iowa, Governor Sarah Palin and Senator McCain held a rally. Here is a portion of Senator McCain’s remarks.

MCCAIN: Senator Obama talks a tough game on the financial markets, but he took more money from Fannie and Freddie than any senator except the Democratic chairman of the committee that regulates them. He put the chief executive officer of Fannie Mae in charge of the selection process for who he was going to select for vice president of the United States. Fannie’s former general counsel is a senior advisor to his campaign. Whose side do you think he’s on? While the leaders of Fannie and Freddie were lining the pockets of his campaign and they were sewing the seeds of a financial crisis we see today, and they also enriched themselves with millions of dollars in payments, that’s not change.

RUSH: No, it’s criminal! Say it. Well, it might be going a little far for a presidential campaign, but, hey, good shift, right? Good move here.

RUSH: Boynton Beach, Florida, Terry, great to have you on the program, sir, hello.

CALLER: Thank you. Well, good afternoon to you.

RUSH: I’m sorry, it’s a female. I’m sorry. I misread the —

CALLER: You wanna call me guy?

RUSH: Ma’am, nice to have you.

CALLER: Well, sir, it’s a pleasure to be with you. You are the greatest. I adore you.

RUSH: Thank you very much. It makes me very happy.

CALLER: Well, I hope so. You’re a happy man and you make everyone else happy.

RUSH: I know.

CALLER: I wanted to tell you, dear, that I was listening to one of those news shows a few weeks ago, and Lisa Bloom, are you familiar with that lady? Gloria Allred’s daughter?

RUSH: Yes.

CALLER: She referred to Sarah Palin as Rush Limbaugh in a skirt. I got the biggest kick out of it.

RUSH: Sarah Palin would kill for my legs, though.

CALLER: Would she? You’ve got a great set of legs. You have a great sense of humor. I just live down the street from you. You are absolutely wonderful, and a great asset to everything that you do. You make life a little better for us.

RUSH: Well, that’s awfully nice of you to say that.

CALLER: Well, it’s the truth. It is, and especially what with Obama.

RUSH: By the way, where in Boynton Beach do you live? I occasionally venture down there to play golf.

CALLER: You do? I am right off Woolbright, 56th, I’m the lady with the antique casino.

RUSH: I get off at Boynton Beach Boulevard. I play at Pine Tree sometimes.

CALLER: Well, call me. I play golf, too. I invented a wonderful golf tee. It’s called, My Hole-In-One Golf Tee. I’m an inventor.

RUSH: Really, are you? You sound like you’re an optimistic person.

CALLER: Well, I love life, I love people, and it doesn’t get any better. In fact, my husband, my love, he passed away —

RUSH: I hate to — I’m out of time, just don’t borrow any money from Fannie Mae.
