RUSH: You’ve got to hear this if you haven’t already. It was last Tuesday Clark County Washington. Representative Brian Baird (Democrat-Washington) held a town hall meeting to talk about health care reform, and during the Q&A a citizen named David Hedrick said this….

HEDRICK: I’m a Marine Corps vet. And, like you, I did swear an oath to defend my Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

AUDIENCE: (cheers and applause)

HEDRICK: Now, I heard you say tonight about educating our children, indoctrinating our children, whatever you want to call it.

BAIRD: I didn’t say ‘indoctrinating.’

AUDIENCE: (laughter)

HEDRICK: Stay away from my kids.

AUDIENCE: (cheers and applause)

HEDRICK: I also heard you say that you’re going to ‘let us’ keep our health insurance. Oh, thank you. It’s not your right to decide whether or not I keep my current plan or not. That’s my decision.

AUDIENCE: (cheers and applause)

RUSH: We edited this. The cheers and the applause went on forever. We have edited this down just for the sake of brevity. But this Marine, David Hedrick, spoke to the American people when he was talking to Democrat Brian Baird. Here’s more.

HEDRICK: I’ve heard recently in the media you and some other people on the national political stage call us ‘brownshirts’ because we oppose it.

BAIRD: No, I did not. No, I did not. What I said was —

AUDIENCE: (grumbling)

BAIRD: And — and I’ve apologized for it.

HEDRICK: Okay, well, thanks. Thanks for apologizing, but I won’t speak to you, then. I’ll speak to others. But I’ll remind you, a little history lesson, the Nazis were the National SOCIALIST Party.

AUDIENCE: Yeah! (applause)

HEDRICK: They were leftists. They were. They took over the finance. They took over the car industry. They took over health care in that country.

AUDIENCE: (cheers and applause)

HEDRICK: If Nancy Pelosi wants to find a swastika, maybe the first place she should look is the sleeve of her own arm.

AUDIENCE: Yeah! (cheers)

HEDRICK: Now, what I want to know is, you’ve done a lot of things that violate your constitutional oath, as you know. What I want to know is, as a Marine, as a disabled veteran that served this country, I’ve kept my oath. Do you ever intend to keep yours?

AUDIENCE: (cheers and applause)

BAIRD: Yes, I do.

RUSH: This is just fabulous here this Marine David Hedrick, a Marine vet just taking it to another Democrat about the health care plan, but this was also about philosophy. ‘It’s not your right to decide whether or not I keep my current plan or not. That’s my decision. Stay away from my kids. I also heard you say you’re going to let us keep our health insurance. Thank you. Who the hell are you to let us…?’ This is exactly right, and this is happening all over the country, and it’s not dying down. It is not dying down, and this was not supposed to happen but, folks, let me tell you something. The Democrats, they’re not affected by this. Except as to say, ‘Well, okay, how do we get around this? The American people don’t want this, so how do we get it past ’em? How do we ram this down their throats without them know what’s happening?’

So hence the discussion of health care co-ops and so forth and so on. But I’ll tell you, I heard this and I was beaming with pride when I heard this. I sent it to Cookie on Friday. I said, ‘You’ve gotta have this ready for me on Monday, because it’s just amazing.’ You know, we all had doubts. We were all asking the question throughout the campaign and even the first three to four months of the Obama presidency. We we’re asking key question: ‘Is our country really gone? Does the country really want what this guy is offering? Have we become a nation where over 50% of the people want to sit around and do nothing and feed off the others? Do we have a country that basically believes the government can and should be the ultimate provider, and whatever we get is hunky-dory and fine and we should be grateful?’

I can remember you people calling me and asking me this question. I can recall asking it myself rhetorically, via the Golden EIB Microphone. And I think with the tea parties now and with the health care reform we’re seeing that is this is largely a conservative country. It’s like I told you two weeks ago. This is a country that’s conservative to the core in terms of its principles and beliefs. This is not a radical leftist country. The people of this country did not elect knowingly or purposely a radical left administration nor a radical-left party in order to totally remake their country. But I’ll tell you, this health care is just one arm of it. The Obama administration, Obama himself is doing everything he can to take over this country in any number of ways. You hope you don’t get distracted by looking at the main thing they’re focusing on.

They’re trying to change the subject now off of health care back to CIA interrogations because he’s losing his base, so he wants to get that back. It’s heartwarming but it’s a call to political arms, because it’s not going to go away. These people are who they are; they’re going to keep trying for this. My whole life they’ve been trying for this kind of stuff. It is the way of the world. They’re going to have to be opposed constantly. The 2010, 2012 elections are crucial here. Charlie Cook last week was saying Democrats in total disarray. He can see ’em losing 20 seats in the House of Representatives. Harry Reid is in big trouble, and I’ve got a great story here. There’s a quote from a Harry Reid aide in this story, ‘Well, when you have to carry the agenda for the president this is the kind of trouble you get into.’ I can’t believe they reported this.

But Reid is in big trouble in Nevada, particularly if he is seen as spearheading this health care thing. If he is seen as spearheading it, the people in Nevada don’t want it. Have you seen the Las Vegas unemployment numbers? They are shooting up, skyrocketing up. None of this was supposed to happen, and you have a president who’s totally detached from it now on this rich-guy vacation. They tried to ban cameras and microphones from the airport at Marxist Vineyard. But of course some people got in there with their cell phones and there’s Air Force One, there’s all the Marine helicopters, the trappings of luxury. I mean, it was Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. The only thing missing was Robin Leach on the tarmac to greet Obama when he got off the plane. While everybody else is seeing their jobs go south, no raises, the tone deafness here is amazing. But, you know, folks, it’s really a mistake to say it’s tone deafness.

It’s not tone deafness. He just doesn’t care. They don’t care what you think; they don’t care what you want. They’re gonna ram it down your throat anyway because it’s all about him. It’s all about what he wants. Here’s another question for Obama, and another question for those of us across the country: Where is the specific constitutional language authorizing the president and Congress to dictate — dictate; yes, dictate — our medical and health care decisions? Where is the language? And is there any Founding Father who would have imagined such a power exercised by the government they were establishing? Of course not. There’s not one Founding Father that would not be rolling over in his grave. This is how far the nation has moved from its founding that we have a president actively in opposition to the Constitution and very few people are even alarmed about it. Well, that’s not true to say anymore. There are gazillions of Americans now alarmed about it, and they are speaking up. Don’t stop.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to play the sound bites here of the Marine vet whose name is David Hedrick, and a lot of you have written, ‘Why did you cut the applause?’ We cut it for time. Part of me is intrigued, wanting to hear all the applause. When the Drive-Bys cover this all they do is cover the applause, trying to show angry people. You think this guy will show up on any cable network other than Fox as a guest? Here again, the two bites, this is in Clark County, Washington, for Democrat Brian Baird town meeting last Tuesday, David Hedrick, an American citizen.

RUSH: The crowd was going nuts. It went on and on and on and on and on.

HEDRICK: I’ve heard recently in the media you and some other people on the national political stage call us ‘brownshirts’ because we oppose it.

BAIRD: No, I did not. No, I did not. What I said was —

AUDIENCE: (cheers and applause)

BAIRD: Yes, I do.

RUSH: That’s David Hedrick, a Marine vet in Clark County, Washington, for Representative Brian Baird at a town meeting last week. It’s exemplary. It’s also representative and illustrative of the attitude that has swept the country, which is why Obama’s trying to change the subject.
