Morning Update: No Lives Matter

by Rush Limbaugh - Jul 18,2016

With the country still reeling over the murder of five police officers in Dallas, news came from Baton Rouge that three more policemen were murdered, just because they’re cops. Baton Rouge has been tense for weeks, after a black man, Alton Sterling, was fatally shot by cops in front of a convenience store.

Joycelyn Jackson was attending church, unaware that her younger brother, Officer Montrell Jackson, had been killed. She heard the devastating news when the pastor asked the congregation to pray for her family.

Officer Jackson was married, father of a baby boy. Just days ago, he wrote a post on his social media page, saying he was tired physically and emotionally. He said he loved Baton Rouge, but wondered if the city loved him. “In uniform I get nasty hateful looks, and out of uniform some consider me a threat,” he wrote. “These are trying times. Please don’t let hate infect your heart. This city MUST and WILL get better.” Incidentally, Jackson is African-American.

Joycelyn says she gets the anger behind the Black Lives Matter Movement, but God doesn’t give anybody the right to “take another person’s life.” She added, “It’s coming to the point where no lives matter whether you’re black or white or Hispanic or whatever.”

In time, maybe Officer Jackson will be proved right, and things will get better. But not in time for him and his family. Or for the other brave police officers who lost their lives, completely senselessly.
