RUSH: Evan in Indianap… Oh, Evan, are you there, by the way?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Get this. Evan’s from Indianapolis. There was a linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts that was tragically killed in a traffic accident over the weekend. It turns out that a man is being held for suspected drunken driving in the crash that killed Edwin Jackson. The man being held is a citizen of Guatemala who has twice been deported from the U.S. He was in the country illegally. Another illegal immigrant behind the wheel killed an American. Okay, Evan, what’s up? Glad you called.

CALLER: Hey, yeah, big fan. First-time caller. I’ll be quick. My phone shuts down or whatever. But I’m 25 years old and I’m a huge Trump fan. I was just wanting to know what your thoughts were about Trump being, I guess, the first president not to sit down during the Super Bowl halftime interview and take the NBC interview.

RUSH: Let me… Is it your understanding he was invited and said, “No,” or that he wasn’t invited to do it?

CALLER: My understanding was he was invited to do it and said “no.”

RUSH: I’ll tell you, I like it. I’m gonna tell you right now that when I first heard about it, I liked it. Trump does not want to intercede, interrupt, involve himself, ’cause they’re fake/phony interviews anyway. Except this one would not have been. They would not have been asking him what he had for lunch and what he’s gonna have at his Super Bowl party.

I think it was very wise just to stay out of this for a whole bunch of reasons. But I think breaking this tradition would be a great thing. So I’m glad Trump did do it.
