RUSH: Now, here's Susan Sarandon, and we're going to keep it going: 12, 13, and 14 coming up here. This is Susan Sarandon. Last night on Entertainment Tonight, a reporter asked her what she thought of Sarah Palin.
SARANDON: Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor. That's all I have to say!
RUSH: (laughing) She can read her lines well, she can read what's on the Daily Kos blog. She can read what's on the Washington Post blog. She can listen to what all her other idiotic friends are saying. Jesus was...? Folks, I'm telling you, trust me on this. The number of people that are offended by this is huge. These people are so out of touch, they had no clue how well The Passion of the Christ was going to do. This is the same thing. This is a comment that insults all of those millions of people. It does not endear them to anybody. Let's go back. This is Donna Brazile on Sunday on CNN.
BRAZILE: Jesus was a community organizer. Pontius Pilate was a governor, and perhaps they should understand the role of a -- a community organizer to help people in distress.
RUSH: Look, it defies explanation. We're too rational, folks. We try to understand these people on our terms. Like I was saying at the end of the previous hour, we look at them and we say, "How can they not realize this is stupid? How can they not realize this is hurting them? How can they not understand that this is in bad taste? How can they not understand that it ain't working? How can they understand that this is not going to create a groundswell for Obama?" It's because they never look at themselves that way. They are never wrong. When they lose, when things do go wrong, it's always somebody else's fault, and when they lose they get even angrier; they get even more radical. It's happening in the news media, it's happening in the Democrat Party. JFK, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." That's heresy today! Not only are you not to ask what you can do for your country, you are to demand what your country do for you and you are to be entitled to it. You are to act and vote as though you are entitled to your country doing as much for you as you can get your government to do for you. Off the deep end here. But they never examine themselves. Maybe to the point of, "Maybe we need to get a George Lakoff (rhymes with) kind of guy here to maybe fix our word trickery," but they're not rational, folks, and as such they don't look at themselves the same way we look at each other.
RUSH: Let's return to Wednesday on the floor of the House of Representatives, Steve Cohen, Democrat, Tennessee.
COHEN: I submit to you, Mr. Speaker, that the parties have differences, but if you want change, you want the Democratic Party. Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor.
RUSH: Jesus never needed a teleprompter, Steve. All of this from the people who are just obsessed with separation of church and state. Susan Sarandon quoting Jesus, Donna Brazile quoting Jesus, Steve Cohen mentioning Jesus? Gotta love this. Now, Cohen went on Hardball last night with Chris Matthews to try to explain. Now listen to Matthews' question: "Congressman Cohen, was Jesus a community organizer? I thought he was a carpenter."
COHEN: Well, he was several things, but he was an agent for change and he was outside the system. I certainly didn't mean to compare Barack Obama to Jesus as a --
MATTHEWS: Now, Al Sharpton is a community organizer. Jesus was a carpenter. I just think -- how do you make -- why do you come up with comparisons like that?
COHEN: They are dangerous and I shouldn't have done it. The first minute of my speech was accurate. It was the disingenuousness of the Republicans condemning community activists who had brought about most of the change in America. I'd seen a -- a bumper sticker on my e-mail that morning from an activist friend in Memphis, those things are more for activists and less for congressmen, and I've learned from this particular speech.
RUSH: Wrong. Community organizers have brought about most of the change in this country? Community activists have brought about most of the change in this country? They talk about being out of touch, they don't know what being in touch is. They are so far gone it's just mind-numbing to watch this.
RUSH: I'm sitting here rereading the transcript of the answer that this idiot Steve Cohen, the Democrat from Tennessee, gave to Chris Matthews. Now, as I mentioned yesterday, I pray to Jesus Christ often. I have read and studied the Gospels. I know Jesus Christ. It would never occur to me to refer to Jesus Christ as an agent for change. He gets through saying here that he didn't mean to compare Obama to Jesus Christ and then says, "Jesus Christ was an agent of change. He was outside the system." I think the audacity here of applying 2008 liberal political-speak to the life of Jesus Christ is once again just overwhelmingly ignorant, and it's also an indication of how self-oriented and focused these people are. Community organizer, they say, agent of change, outside the system, and then, by the way, I wasn't comparing Jesus Christ to Obama. Well, Obama was a community organizer and they say he's an agent of change, although I don't know what change you're talking about. He's certainly not an outsider. The guy has been inside Democrat Party hack politics for I don't know how long. It just struck me, Jesus Christ an agent of change. I guess next he'll say, "Jesus Christ was down for the struggle."
RUSH: All this Jesus and community organizer stuff? Over the course of the next month and a half, 50 days or so, I hope to synthesize the tremendous amount of written material that I have at my disposal detailing exactly what Barack Obama did in Chicago as a community organizer, and it is nothing at all as he has been presenting it. You know, helping downtrodden people getting their lives back on track, that's not what it is. His community organizing took place under the leadership of a man named Saul Alinsky. He is a total, total radical. He is no different than the Bernardine Dohrns or the Bill Ayers or the Jeremiah Wrights. He just hides it better. He is as thorough a radical as Jeremiah Wright is and Bill Ayers. His modus operandi is to get elected and to be able to implement this stuff on the sly from the inside rather than agitate for it on the outside.
The real comparison here, if you want to start talking about Jesus was a community organizer, the real model for Barack Obama's community organization efforts was Saul Alinsky, Rules For Radicals. It's the bible. It is the bible for Obama, and Jeremiah Wright, all these people, the Bill Ayers and these guys that work with him. He's dead now, he's long gone, but his book lives on, and these people that buy into this stuff eat it up -- and it is the bible. That's what I'm getting at. Now, if you want to really understand this whole "Jesus was a community organizer thing," you need to read at the front of this book -- and we mentioned this. We'll put the web page back up for you, RushLimbaugh.com. We mentioned this.
Saul Alinsky dedicated his own book to the first-ever community organizer, the first ever real man of dissent, and this man ended up with his own empire. His name was Lucifer. Saul Alinsky has dedicated his book, did dedicate his book, Rules for Radicals, to Satan! The work that Obama's done with ACORN and some of the radical stuff that he actually did, it's no wonder they don't tell this story, and they're trying to paper it over with flowery language about helping downtrodden get back on their feet. That's not at all what he did. He organized to keep the ROTC out of schools. He organized to have kids be taught themselves how to be radicals. The reason that you don't see any of the so-called people that Obama has helped is because they don't want you to see them. They're not people who grew up in the gutter and somehow found religion and found inspiration and motivation and now live in the suburbs, and they have a white picket fence and 2.8 kids. That's not who they are.
They are members of ACORN. They're out helping people fraudulently register to vote countless times. And that just scratches the surface of what goes on here. But Obama's true mentor, Saul Alinsky, dedicates his book, Rules for Radicals, for the first lineman of dissent, the first real two radical, Lucifer, the devil. So keep that in mind the next time you hear a stupid line about "Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor."
