RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, the recently elected (just last week) president of FIFA has quit. Sepp Blatter just announced his resignation. We have a brief blurb here from Zurich. It’s audio sound bite number 22.

BLATTER: I would like to thank everyone who’s always supported me in a constructive and loyal manner as president of FIFA, and who have done so much for football. What counts most to me is the institution FIFA and football around the world. Thank you very much for your kind attention.

RUSH: He’s out. He’s gone. He’s not giving a reason; so it’s open to speculation. They’ll have a new election as soon as possible to get a new president of FIFA. No idea why. He won reelection. I was always stunned. All this corruption, all this bribery, all these payoffs and none of it touched old Sepp, and he didn’t even know about it? Probably the root of all this is gonna be found somewhere there.
