RUSH: Janet, Charlotte, Illinois, is that where you’re from?
CALLER: Yes. Hello, Last Man Standing. Comey has made your day even better than Scooter Libby getting pardoned. Comey has revealed that he got the FBI gig for no other reason than he was, is, and always will be, a fixer. Now, what my proposal is, I am now ready to graduate from reading the stitches on the fastball class and I would like to explain how, if you would play along.
RUSH: Look, if you want to take the test, go right ahead.
CALLER: I do. I’m ready. Okay? So let’s roll. To understand my proposal, you have to put on your preelection mind, okay? Comey revealed in the book that he believed Obama was going to win. I believe they —
RUSH: No, no, no, no, no — Hillary.
CALLER: Not Obama, Hillary was gonna win.
RUSH: And that’s another thing. You’re beating me to the punch here. What business is — how does that factor into an investigation? He think’s Hillary is gonna win so —
CALLER: I will explain. I will explain.
RUSH: All right.
CALLER: I’m gonna pass the test.
RUSH: You’re taking a test so you go straight ahead.
CALLER: Okay. I believe they believed it was going to be a big win. Okay? And they had a real problem with President Hillary. They were called emails. So because it was a win big, they had to deal with the emails before the people voted. And they knew it would pull off a few votes, but not enough votes, okay? And so Comey opened up that email investigation in the final days, and he did it in the classic Clinton fixer mode. There was a guy who came out in the spring of 2016 and said he was a Clinton fixer. He explains that it’s all out there somewhere. What the Clintons always have done is they used him and other people like him, there was a problem on the horizon. The Clintons see their own problems before anyone else does.
RUSH: Let me stop you here because when Comey comes out in October and announced he’s reopening the email investigation, that was not to exonerate her. In fact, I’ve got a montage coming up where all these liberals hate Comey, want him to be fired, he’s unqualified because he did that.
CALLER: Yeah. Exactly. You’re making my point. I’m gonna pass the test. This is awesome.
RUSH: Well, but you’re saying that the October thing was Comey — wait a minute. You’re saying that Comey was saving Hillary in that October announcement —
CALLER: Yeeees! He was saving President Hillary, not candidate Hillary, President Hillary! I used to ride horses, and when you’re going over the jump you need to look to the next.
RUSH: Okay. I’ve got you. I got it. Okay. So let me see if I have it so I can grade your test. You’re saying that the October announcement, he’s reopening the Hillary investigation, and then two or three days later he said, “Guess what, there’s nothing here! We looked at the Huma Abedin server, we looked at Carlos, nothing here, Hillary is clear and free.” Because at the time everybody thought Hillary was gonna win. So you’re saying that while it looked like it was harmful to Hillary, it wasn’t gonna derail her, and it was gonna totally wipe the email slate clean so that she could win clear and free. Is that what your point is?
CALLER: Yes. Do I pass?
RUSH: You get an A.
RUSH: That’s well said. Look, I don’t mean to be rude here, but I’m up against a time constraint problem, I’ve got to take the break. But look, you can’t get any greater praise than an A. And you even walked me through it beyond where I thought you were finished. You did great. It’s fantastic.
And in fact there’s gonna be a lot of people that had not look at it that way. The fact that Comey did that when everybody on his side and everybody thought Hillary was gonna win in a landslide so they could withstand a little bit of a hit, but they had to clear her thoroughly before the election so that there would not be any investigation of this after the election. Brilliant. Right on.
RUSH: There’s another reason why Comey reopened, quote, unquote, the Hillary email investigation. Remember, that was October 28th, so it’s like 10 days before the election. The other reason why he did it was they had been sitting on the news about Anthony Weiner’s emails for months and the fact that some of the classified emails had ended up on his computer via Huma’s computer. And then he just had a press conference in July where Hillary basically, she didn’t know she was trafficking, and therefore she didn’t intend to. And so no reasonable prosecutor would proceed.
And then it came out that some of these classified emails had ended up on Carlos Danger’s computer. This is the guy sharing nude sex photos with teenage girls. And Comey had promised for months, he promised to tell Congress about it and had not done so and he realized that if he never told Congress about it, ’cause he had promised to reveal that aspect, that he would be in hot water ’cause they couldn’t have this kind of thing surface after the election she was gonna win.
So when he was sure that Hillary was gonna win and when it was too late for Trump to make a comeback, it’s the reason why this happened on October 28th. Now, remember when it happened, the Clinton campaign and the media blew a gasket. And you remember what the effect was. It went through a weekend, and we all knew that Comey was gonna announce he hadn’t found anything, but he had to announce reopening investigation, sitting on the stuff that this classified email data had ended up on Weiner’s computer.
He waited, he was following the polls, he’s admitted that in this foolish book of his! He’s following the polls. He thinks Hillary is a clear winner. He’s very nervous, he says, about doing anything to impact the outcome of an election. It’s beyond the pale what he was doing, but he waits. He’s looking at the polls. He sees this massive Hillary seven- or eight-point win, figures October 28, not enough time for Trump to do anything with it to mount a comeback. And that’s why the timing of that.
So a couple weeks before the election, give the FBI time to pretend they’d investigated it and then found no problem which clears the decks for Hillary and the email scandal after she wins. ‘Cause remember, every one of these people thinks she’s going to win in a landslide. Well, you may have forgotten, but the Democrat Party, when Comey reopened this investigation October 28th, hated his guts, and they wanted him gone.
They thought he was traitorous, they thought he was interfering like an FBI agent should not, and there’s a montage here of a bunch of Democrats: Schumer, Chris Murphy, Bernie Sanders, George Stephanopoulos, Jerry Nadler, Adam “Pencil Neck” Schiff, Claire McCaskill, Tim Kaine, all describing Comey and what they think of him.
MURPHY: Democrats have been very critical of James Comey, and many of us did call for his resignation.
SCHUMER: I was appalled by what Director Comey did.
SANDERS: Comey acted in an outrageous way.
PELOSI: He made a mistake. Maybe he’s not in the right job.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Howard Dean, former Democratic candidate for president says, quote, “He may have destroyed the credibility of the FBI forever.”
SCHIFF: This was a very serious error in judgment.
NADLER: The president ought to fire Comey immediately, and he ought to initiate an investigation.
MCCASKILL: What he did was unprecedented and outrageous, damaged the institution of law enforcement in this country.
KAINE: The lowest moment in the history of the FBI.
SCHUMER: I found it hard to believe that Comey, who I thought had some degree of integrity, would do this.
WATERS: All I can tell you is the FBI director has no credibility. That’s it.
RUSH: That’s Auntie Maxine there, Maxine Waters. So you see, the Democrats — this is around October 28th, 29th, 30th, 2016, they hated Comey. They wanted him gone. He was ruining the FBI. He was destroying the FBI. But now look. Just like the ACLU. All of a sudden the ACLU is praising the FBI raid of a lawyer’s office since it’s Trump’s lawyer. These people. Principle? They wouldn’t know it if it slapped ’em in the face!
RUSH: I still cannot get over that Comey didn’t think it was any big deal to tell Trump that the whole hooker-peeing-on-the-bed story was a Hillary Clinton-written document. He didn’t think it was a big deal not to tell Trump. I cannot get my arms around that. “No, I didn’t think it was important.” You didn’t think it was important to tell Trump, instead of trying to make him believe it’s legitimate intelligence that you ran across? Geepers!
Of all the things — and believe me, this is saying something. Of all the things, this is what boggles my mind, and this is the difference in being an outside and being a swamp-dweller. I guarantee you the people in the swamp and the Drive-By Media, they don’t think it’s any big deal, Comey being crafty or what have. This is just incomprehensible to me, that Comey, when asked, “Don’t you think it’s a little…? Don’t you think you might want to tell the president that the story you have for him is written by people paid by Hillary Clinton producing opposition research against you?”
“No, I didn’t think of that. In fact, I don’t think I called it ‘the Steele dossier.’ I was just amazed at the president’s reaction.” Well, you’re sandbagging the guy! What the hell do you think he’s gonna have as a reaction to it? “Former FBI director James Comey says President Donald Trump asked him to investigate the salacious allegations from the so-called ‘dossier’ to ‘prove that it didn’t happen’ and said it would be ‘terrible’ if his wife Melania Trump would believe them to be true.” Somebody tell me what the hell is wrong with that.
Doesn’t this prove Trump had nothing to hide? I mean, let’s be human beings. Let’s be real. Let’s have common sense here. These guys looking at investigations… By the way, I’m getting so sick and tired of that word. In the previous sound bite where all these Democrats were hating on Comey, it was Jerrold Nadler saying, “We need an investigation in why Comey reopened the investigation.” This investigation garbage. We need a witch-hunt! We need to open a show trial! Investigation, my butt. That’s not what these things are.
So much of this stuff… (sigh) Can you tell it’s wearing me out? But if you ask me, this whole exchange kind of shows that Trump wasn’t hiding anything. He hears about this outrageous, stupid story and asks Comey, “You gotta knock that down, Bud! There’s just no way that can be.” The allegations come from Hillary freaking Clinton, and Comey knew it! And it didn’t strike him as any big deal. Remember what we’re talking about here. “The ‘dossier,’ a 35-page document containing raw intelligence complied by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele…”
It wasn’t raw intel. It was an opposition-research document. This dossier was a political hit job paid for by Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party. Everybody knows that now. Comey knows it now! Even if he wanted to hide it from Trump back then, he knows now that it… He knew then! He knew. They even used it to get a FISA warrant, for crying out loud. Do you think by the time you write your book, you can at least tell the truth about it? We’re at least a year and a half removed from this now. Comey writes about it as though it’s yesterday.
“Comey says that during a private, one-on-one dinner with Trump on Jan. 27, 2017, Trump brought up the dossier and said, ‘He may want me to investigate it to prove that it didn’t happen. And then he says something that distracted me because he said, you know, “If there’s even a 1% chance my wife thinks that’s true, that’s terrible.” And I remember thinking, “How could your wife think there’s a 1% chance you were with prostitutes peeing on each other in Moscow”‘ with you paying for it and watching? How could your wife think that was true?” And then Comey says, “I’m a flawed human being, but there is literally zero chance that my wife would think that was true.
“‘So, what kind of marriage to what kind of man does your wife think [that] there’s only a 99% chance you didn’t do that?'” What a BS excuse to slime Trump! Which is what this is: A BS excuse to, once again, slime Trump. Comey knows damn well what Trump was saying. He was using figures of speech! He wasn’t being specific. “My God, my wife might think there’s a 1% chance. I can’t handle that. You gotta knock this down.” I tell you, this says much more about Comey, this says much more about Comey than it does about Trump.
The way Comey’s written this and has not changed any of this even after a year has gone by shows Comey is out to get Trump, and that’s why Comey never told Trump up front the dossier was a smear job paid for by Hillary. And it was used by Obama. Don’t forget, to get the FISA warrant — that’s the Obama administration — this whole thing was made up. Remember, this FISA investigation was the third time the Obama administration had been using the intel community to he can look stuff to the Drive-By Media, to see how compliant they would be in getting stuff in the news that the Obama administration wanted in the news.
Now, Comey says that Trump then told him, quote, “I may order you to investigate that.” And Comey says he told Trump, “Sir, that’s up to you, but you want to be very careful about that because it might create a narrative that we’re investigating you personally. And second, it’s very difficult to prove something didn’t happen.” Wait a minute. Nobody is supposed to know about these investigations, Comey. That is another thing. I mentioned it once. This whole book… If we ever go by the book again, if we ever go by the book of law again…
We’re not doing it in immigration. We’re not doing it with guns. We’re not doing it with this, apparently. If we ever get back to the rules of law where it comes to, this whole book is illegal. This whole book is writing about an ongoing investigation. This book should not have been published, but it doesn’t seem like the rule of law counts for much when we happen to be hanging around the salons of the left. So he says, “Sir, you want to be careful about that it be it might create a narrative that we are investigating…” Who creates narratives?
The media creates narratives. How the hell would the media even know about it? You’re not supposed to be telling the media about ongoing investigations, even though Comey has been doing that. He has a July 5th press conference, exonerating Hillary. That was an ongoing investigation. And this guy is Mr. Clean, Mr. Superhero, Mr. James Bond? He’s the next Bond guy? He didn’t want to investigate the dossier because he already knew what it was. He didn’t want that dossier disproved. The last thing Comey or Hillary or Obama or anybody involved — the last thing they — wanted was that dossier to be established as bogus.
They weren’t gonna investigate that. They couldn’t run the risk that everything they’d gotten a FISA warrant for and it was based on was total bunk. Just like Jesse Jackson is never gonna allow the race business to be solved in this country, they were never gonna allow the Steele dossier to ever be proven as bogus. That would have destroyed everything! That would have… I mean, they’d have been frog-marched back up to the FISA court and the judge, if he wasn’t in on it, would have been saying:
“You mean to tell me you came up here to get a warrant to spy on that campaign based on an opposition research documents from his opponent — and you knew it?” There is no way that Comey was gonna do any kind of investigation to disprove that. They had too much tied up in this dossier, and that is the “narrative. ” But what is Comey worried about narratives for? Journalism does narratives. The FBI does investigations. If the FBI’s into creating narratives now, we need to know that, too! ‘Cause creating a narrative means you have a set of things you want to be true so then you do the investigation in such a way that those things are found.
Well, that’s not an investigation, and it sounds to me like that’s exactly what’s going on. There are certain things these clowns all want to be true about Donald Trump, and they’re not stopping until they can find a way to manufacture it to make it look like an investigation proved it. It isn’t difficult to prove that this didn’t happen. And to throw it out and say, “Mr. President, I’d be very, very worried. Once we start that road, it’d be very difficult prove something didn’t happen.” Don’t you guys in the FBI do that every day? In a roundabout way, don’t you prove an allegation’s false here, allegation’s false there?
I mean, don’t you prove by virtue of your jobs every day that certain things that are said to have happened didn’t? But the best evidence, folks, is that for a year and a half every leftist worth his salt in the entire world has been tracking that story down desperately seeking the video of the hookers, desperately seeking the hookers, desperately seeking evidence that it happened. Frankly, I’m surprised they haven’t created the video and made it up. But the fact that they haven’t and the fact that nobody’s leaked it tells me that they don’t have it.
Because if they had, they would have leaked it. We’d have known about it long ago. “Comey said that he first told Trump about the dossier several weeks earlier at a Jan. 6, 2017, meeting at Trump Tower in New York City, in a private, one-on-one conversation after a group of intelligence agency leaders had presented the president-elect with information about how the Russians had interfered with the 2016 election.” How the Russians had interfered? How about… Was Trump told about Hillary colluding with Russian operatives to create the dossier that was being reported to Trump?
The dossier was Hillary’s.
It’s always been Hillary’s.
It was paid for by Hillary. It used phony information from Russian agents and Hillary paid for. If you recall Mike Rogers at NSA told Trump in this January 6th meeting something that made Trump move operations away from Trump Tower. The transition was moved out of there. It were shortly after that Trump started talking about how his wires were tapped at Trump Tower. It turns out that there’s more truth to that than not. “Trump appeared less concerned by the attack, Comey said, than by how it could undermine his victory.
“‘President-elect Trump’s first question was to confirm that it had no impact on the election,” meaning this Russian interference, “and then the conversation, to my surprise,” says Comey, “moved into a PR conversation about how the Trump team would position this, and what they could say about this, with us still sitting there. And the reason that was so striking to me [is] that’s just not done. That the intelligence community does intelligence, the White House does PR and spin.'”
And Comey couldn’t believe that Trump was interested from a PR standpoint of, “Okay, how do we keep this from damaging my victory? How do we keep this…? This nonstory of Russian collusion, how do we keep this from damaging my presidency?” You telling me that the intelligence community is not interested in that? Mr. Comey, you’re telling me that you guys are not interested in defending and protecting the Constitution of the United States from all these foreign assaults?
You want the Russian story to be true and so you’re writing now you couldn’t believe Trump wanted to engage in a PR posture instead of being outraged at the news? All of this just tells me that Trump had nothing to do with any of this. If Trump’s not acting defensive, if Trump’s not trying to shut down the investigation, he’s hearing the news the Russians interfered. “Oh, my God! I’ve gotta make sure this doesn’t damage my administration,” and Comey’s not interested in helping with that. The stuff that’s being revealed here, A, it isn’t really new. B, it isn’t blockbuster. In terms of damaging Trump, it may just be the opposite from that.
RUSH: I’m gonna tell you this. Sir James Comey had no problem whatsoever proving a negative with Hillary Clinton. She didn’t do it. He found clearly that she didn’t intend to do what she did. There was nobody that would prosecute her. So he was clearly able to go out and tell the world that Hillary Clinton didn’t do it, that they weren’t able to find anything that would lead them to prosecute her. So this idea that he tells Trump, “Well, we wouldn’t want to do that, sir, that might create a narrative where you can’t prove something that didn’t happen.”
Well, you sure as hell tried to tell us that whatever did happen with Hillary didn’t happen. You wait. You wait. This is not gonna end up being the knock-down-drag-out grand-slam home run day after day after day with the Drive-By Media.
