RUSH: I mentioned that Trump told a joke that the Twitterverse got livid, the left-wing Twitterverse livid and outraged about, and it’s this. Sound bite 26. International Space Station, the astronaut Peggy Whitson, Trump spoke to her to congratulate her on a new space flight record. She’s now lived more than 534 days in space. During her lifetime more cumulative days in space than any other American, not consecutive, but cumulative, 534 days.

And during the discussion, Trump says, you know, I know so much research is done. I’m getting a glimpse of some of it right here in the Oval Office? What are we learning by being in space? Here’s what Peggy Whitson said.

WHITSON: The International Space Station is providing a key bridge from us living on earth to going somewhere into deep space. So on those Mars missions we need to better understand how microgravity is really affecting our body, and we need to understand it in great detail. So many of the studies are looking at the human body. Water is such a precious resource up here that we also are cleaning up our urine and making it drinkable, and it’s really not as bad as it sounds.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, that’s good, I’m glad to hear that. Better you than me.

RUSH: (laughing) It’s a joke! They actually think that Trump is being disrespectful and putting her down. I’m telling you, one of the problems we have in America today is the left has been rendered so insane and so unhinged that they’re not capable of laughing. Have you ever seen — I mean, other than when you watch a left-wing comedy show, and they’re really not laughing, they’re applauding the mean-spiritedness of left-wing comedy these days. But it’s not happy laughter.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: (Trump impression) “Well, wait, you’re converting urine to water and you’re drinking it? Ha. Better you than me.” (laughing)

“It’s outrageous. How dare he speak that way to an astronaut? How dare he put her down, how dare he disrespect her.” And they just do not have a sense of humor. Same thing with Jeff Sessions talking about some island judge standing in the way of Trump’s executive order. They blew their gasket. Racism, bigotry, homophobia, whatever it is they want to level the charge at.

You know, they’ve been charging these things, so many people, it’s getting to the point now where the charge is baseless. If everybody’s racist, if everybody’s a bigot, if everybody’s a homophobe, if everybody’s all these things all the time, then we’re nearing the point where the allegation is simply going to be laughed at.
